Abstract: A finite element model of the track pin of continuous miner EML340 is established. The model is to investigate the effect of the change of assembly clearance on the failure mode of the track pin in two working conditions:concentric and non-concentric assembly. The analysis results show that the eccentric load caused by the non-concentric assembly accelerates failure of the track pin.The maximum stress of the track pin increases with the increase of the assembly clearances. The maximum stress position of the track pin is gradually deviated from the shear plane. As the assembly tolerance clearances value is 2mm,the maximum stress is 1.5 times higher, and the fracture mode of the track pin belongs to fatigue failure.

Key words: continuous miner, track pin, assembly tolerance clearance, pin failure
