Abstract: Modular design can facilitate simplifying the manufacturing and assembling of product, reducing the cost of supply chain and improving maintainability.Whereas, green modular design takes disassembly and recycle life cycle factors into account in the product conceptual design, which enhances sustainability of product life cycle. For the deficiency of traditional green comprehensive modularization and constraint-based modularization that can’t support the redesign of product, propose the product redesign methodology for green modularization based on similarity and independence analysis.Firstly, nine environmental attribute indexes between components are established. After that, similarity and independence analysis of module are implemented to identify the components that need to be redesigned. Then, guidelines of green modularization are investigated. The design solutions are evaluated by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. In the end,the proposed methodology is illustrated by an example of water fountain.

Key words: green modular design, similarity analysis, independence analysis, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method
