Abstract: Teeth distance is a key parameter for bi-metal band saw blade application.Crook cutting is mainly caused by deformation of the back blade according to force analysis in the sawing progress. The deformation is connected to the cutting and feed force which is influenced by teeth distance.A formula for the relationship between the cutting depth parameter and teeth distance has been build. On the ground of the results from calculation and experiments,it finds that adding teeth distance will descend the cutting and feed forces on the whole blade but increase those on the single teeth.

Key words: bi-metal band saw blade, teeth distance, cutting force, feed force
