Abstract: Column is the important supporting part of the vertical machining center, which the performance has significant effect on the processing quality, reliability, stability and other index of the machine tool. The entity model of some vertical machining center column is established by SoildWorks software, which using ANSYS Workbench software to make static analysis and modal analysis in typical working conditions.Besides, harmonic response analysis of the column is carried out,the result of analysis coincides with modal analysis. One and two order natural frequency is low, which arousing resonance phenomenon easily, and it is necessary to optimize the structure. The mathematical model of dynamic-static characteristic topology optimization is established by compromise programming method and average frequency method, the multi-objective topology optimization design is performed by using ANSYS.It provides a technical way for the optimization goal of improving the dynamic and static performance and reducing weight of the machining center.

Key words: vertical machining center, column, dynamic and static characteristic, multi-objective topology optimization
