Research and design of comprehensive test table for high performance motorized spindle

Abstract: Motorized spindle characterizing by short transmission chain is widely used in CNC machine tools for its high speed and accuracy.Conventional test for spindle emphasizes on static characteristic.A comprehensive test table is designed for machine center motorized spindles.Based on the evaluation and test method introduced,the geometric accuracy of axes of rotation is measured,including synchronous and asynchronous error for both radial and axial directions under different speeds.By the method of in-situ average filter and off-situ low-pass filter,thermal deformations are measured and the accuracy is comparable with commercial spindle thermal test instruments.A load and speed characteristic test system is introduced and the maximum torque is measured.Using modal test system,the frequency response characteristic is achieved with the measured 1st natural frequency in both radial and axial directions.
