Product form customization based on C-C subdivision

Abstract: A method for product design based on Catmull-Clark(C-C) subdivision technology is proposed.Firstly,the designer provides a basic simple mesh model of the product with the vertex editable.Then,the vertex’s position can be modified by not only the designer,but also the users.Finally,the mesh is subdivided and a new product solution is obtained.This method based on subdivision technology,has more faster execution speed and small amount of computation.What the designer need do is only to create a simple product mesh,then the rest work was done all by users.This method is easy to conduct,and can obtain customized product form solutions,which is able to make the design process more efficient.
