CNC milling process planning and recommendation system for complex surface based on random forest algorithm

Abstract: To effectively reduce the complexity of CNC milling process planning for complex surfaces and achieve its automatic generation,a recommendation model for CNC milling process planning based on the random forest algorithm was proposed. First,surface features and process information of CNC operations from existing machining instances were extracted,and a CNC process knowledge base was constructed by integrating CNC machining theory. Then,a recommendation model for CNC milling process planning based on the random forest algorithm was designed,which takes the extracted surface features of the part to be machined and the machining requirements as inputs,and outputs the CNC machining planning parameters with the highest score,thereby generating an appropriate CNC milling process planning recommendation scheme. The validity of this model was verified using corresponding CAD/CAM software.
