Abstract: A car multi-body dynamics model was built by using software ADAMS/CAR.The suspension spring stiffness and shock absorber damping characteristic were used as design variable, and the multi-objective genetic algorithm was used to perform optimization considering handling stability ride comfort. After optimization,a pareto set was obtained and an optimal solution was chosen from it,the result of analysis indicates that handling stability and ride comfort can be optimized effectively through this method

Key words: handling stability, ride comfort, genetic algorithm, multi-objective optimization
